“Buy and Bust” Drug Case: Obtained Jury Acquittal for Client Accused of Selling Drugs

Ms. Marion successfully obtained a jury acquittal of her client accused of selling drugs in a buy-and-bust drug case. The client had received a horrible pre-trial ruling from a judge who said that if the client testified on his own behalf many of his prior prejudicial criminal acts and numerous prior arrests would be brought out and made known to the jury. The client also faced twenty-five years if convicted after trial due to his prior contacts with the criminal justice system. Based on Ms. Marion’s assessment of how the client would come across to a jury, she advised him to testify. Her preparation of her client enabled him to withstand the rigorous examination by the prosecutor. Ms. Marion was able to establish that although the client was a drug user and an individual engaged in “life-long” criminal conduct, he was not a seller of narcotics, resulting in her client’s acquittal on all charges.
