Dismissal of Sexual Abuse Charges Against a Teacher

A New York City schoolteacher was charged with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a level D felony. Amy Marion counseled the client and prepared him for his grand jury testimony. She also assessed and gathered witnesses to be presented to the grand jury for testimony, escorted and counseled the client through the grand jury proceedings and then litigated grand jury issues before a Supreme Court Judge. The litigation resulted in a favorable ruling whereby the Assistant District Attorney was ordered to instruct the grand jury in compliance with Ms. Marion’s request presented to the court. The grand jury dismissed the charges, saving the client from the risk of jail time, loss of his teacher’s license, and the hours and cost of litigating the charges.
